The Lagos International Trade Fair is the premier International Trade Fair in Nigeria. The spectacular 10-day event, which usually begins on the first Friday in November of each year, started in 1981.
The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry took over the organization of the fair in 1986. Within this period, the Lagos International Trade Fair has grown tremendously in popularity to become a leading forum for trade and business promotion in Nigeria, and indeed Africa. In recognition of its importance and usefulness, increasing numbers of exhibitors and visitors from all over Nigeria and the world are taking keen interest in, and patronizing, the Lagos International Trade Fair.
The fair is organized by the oldest and the most influential Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria, that is, the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Chamber is uniquely aware of the high standards expected of an International Trade Fair, and it is therefore, constantly striving to live up to the high expectation. Moreover, the Chamber comprises the cream of Nigeria’s top business organizations and personalities, who are able and ready to enter into business interactions with their counterparts all over the world.
The fair holds in Lagos, the Industrial and Commercial Heartland of Nigeria, which is easily accessible by air, sea, rail, and land. Most of the reputable national and international business organizations are represented in the city.
The Fair holds in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country and one of the continents richest nations. With a population of over 100 million people, huge oil wealth and other abundant natural resources. Nigeria certainly represents an irresistible market and valuable business arena.
The fair has attracted both local and foreign exhibitors. Since 1986 when the Chamber took over the organization of the fair, the participation of local and foreign exhibitors have been growing at an estimated average annual rate of 21 percent and 24 percent respectively. Exhibitors have been attracted from countries as near as the neighboring West African Countries of Ghana, Ivory Coast, and Cameroon and from as far as Austria, Germany, Romania, Poland, Italy, Japan, Argentina, Iran, Egypt, China, Netherlands, Czechoslovakia, Brazil, India, Korea, United Kingdom, and the United States of America.

The Lagos International Trade Fair attracts numerous visitors from all over Nigeria and different parts of the world. Averagely, over 150,000 persons attend the Fair.
The Fair is normally held in a purpose built complex with all the necessary facilities such as electricity, water, telephone, and fax to provide conducive setting for business interactions. Competent and experienced members of the Trade Fair Planning Committee, staff and contractors of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry are ever willing and ready to assist participants at the Fair in procuring entry passes and in clearing goods meant for exhibition. Moreover, the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry is able to provide up-to-date business information and to attend promptly to enquiries from exhibitors and visitors to the Fair.
The Lagos International Trade Fair enjoys a spectacular wide publicity on Radio, Television and the press throughout its 10 days duration and beyond; thereby presenting a unique opportunity to exhibitors to showcase their products, services, inventions, and innovations necessary for the attainment of the objectives for which they are set up.
Moreover, eminent dignitaries and decision makers from all over Nigeria visit the Fair on a daily basis throughout its duration.
