Exhibitions
Creating
and
establishing
innovations
and
top-quality
special
interest
fairs
and
exhibitions
is one
of the
numerous
tasks of
the
Lagos
Chamber
of
Commerce
and
Industry.
It is a
non-profit
making
organisation
that was
established
in 1888.
The
Lagos
Chamber
has been
organising
the
premier
Lagos
International
Trade
Fair in
Nigeria
since
1986
after
taking
it over
from the
Federal
Government
of
Nigeria
that
started
it in
1981.
The
Specialized
Exhibition
started
two
years
back
focusing
on
Foods,
Drinks,
Drugs
and
Agricultural
sector
of the
economy.
The idea
of
staging
this
particular
Specialized
Exhibition
was born
out of
the
desire
to
project
the
potentials
of
Nigeria
in
agriculture,
food,
drinks
as well
as agro
allied
industries
especially
in the
aftermath
of the
recent
ban
placed
on the
importation
of many
food and
pharmaceutical
product
in
Nigeria.
When
viewed
particularly
from the
perspective
of
export
opportunities,
the
various
economic
and
trade
agreements
entered
into by
Nigeria
both at
bilateral
and
multilateral
levels,
the
enormous
opportunities
for
export
development
abound.
It is
against
this
background
that the
Lagos
Chamber
recognizes
the
staging
of Trade
Fair/Exhibition
as a
potent
trade
promotion
strategy
and will
therefore
continue
to
provide
the
necessary
facilities
at world
standard
to
encourage
participation
and
exploitation
of
benefits
from
such
programmes.
Since
inception,
the
Specialized
Exhibition
is
usually
supported
by the
Nigerian
Government
and is
usually
well
attended
by
multinational
companies
and
government
agencies
seeking
new
ideas,
inventions
and
innovations
necessary
for the
attainment
of the
objectives
for
which
they are
set up.
Moreover,
dignitaries
and
decision
makers
visit
the
Exhibition
on a
daily
basis
throughout
its
duration.
However,
the
Food,
Drinks,
Drugs
and
Agriculture
(FDDA)
Specialized
Exhibition
will be
staged
mid
2006, in
Lagos,
Nigeria.
Other
sectors
of the
economy
that the
Lagos
Chamber
will
soon
organize
Specialized
Exhibition
on are
as
follows:
Household/Domestic
Products,
Cosmetics/Pharmaceutical/Healthcare,
Textile/Fashion/Leather/Footwear,
Oil
and Gas,
Telecommunication,
Information
Technology,
